Jack Crawford sings at the Frittenden Festival – Sing, dance and play
A special guest from Derbyshire, Jack Crawford sings traditional songs unaccompanied in the old-fashioned style, and in recent years, he’s become prominent as a highly respected performer with a big, dark brown and musical voice and great way of telling a story.
We invited him to Frittenden because his singing is outstanding and we could say much more – but the reviews of his recent CD, Pride of the Season on the Wild Goose label make the point better than we could:
‘He is simply a brilliant interpreter of melody, able to draw out the most delicate nuances of tunes and vary interpretation to fit the subtlest scansion of words’. Colin Cater, writing in Mardles magazine.
‘This new release from Jack Crawford on the Wildgoose label is an absolute gem. Every track has an incredibly deep rooted authenticity… It was a real pleasure to listen to.’ Folk Radio UK.
‘For traditional songs simply and sympathetically delivered in a rich, clear, unaffected voice, one would have to rate Jack Crawford as one of the best.’ Colin Andrews writing for What’s Afoot magazine.
Jack will be singing at various points during the festival, including the afternoon concert at the Memorial Hall. Don’t miss him!
